Despite any stress that goes along with the job, most people who decide to earn a living as an independent contractor couldn’t be happier with the decision. They enjoy the benefits and learn to how to roll with the blows. They also become very organized.

Without a doubt, the single biggest benefit to life as an independent contractor is the freedom you’ll experience. The only people you have to answer to will be your clients. Yes, that means you’ll take the blame when they aren’t happy with the work you’ve done, and lets face it, some clients will never be happy, but most of the clients you work with will love what you’ve done, and you can take pride in knowing that everything came together because of you.

Being an independent contractor means you don’t have to do something because someone else thinks you should. If you don’t like the concept behind a project, or the people you’ll be working with, or a supplier, you don’t have to work for them. Most people find that this freedom alone more than justifies any stress that goes along with independent contractor work.

When you work for an employer, it seems that they constantly expect you to sacrifice something, most often your time, to do something for them. Yes, independent contractors do occasionally have to miss out on piano recitals, dates, and hanging out with friends, but at least you get to make the choices freely and know exactly what your giving up and why.

A majority of the people that begin jobs as freelance independent contractors make a vow to never work for a traditional employer again.

I cannot say enough about home education. I can tell you that I knew the day that my daughter was born that I was going to home school her. I knew that it was a calling on my life as I take the Bible literally and believe that God meant for women to teach their children at home. Not everyone has the same reason for homeschooling their children, but each reason is a good reason as homeschooling is very gratifying for both you and your children.

I remember the day that my daughter learned how to read because I taught her that. I remember the day that she began to understand math concepts because I taught them to her. Knowing that you are teaching your child things that will help them the rest of their lives is so very humbling and gratifying at the same time.

Knowing that your child is being taught the things that you believe when it comes to spiritual matters and morals by homeschooling them is also very gratifying. There is no need to worry about them learning sex education for example from a teacher whom you have questions about, they will be learning health and reproduction in their own homes and if they have questions about things they can ask you and not a teacher who may have ulterior motives for teaching.

If you have thought about home schooling your children, I totally recommend that you give it a try for at least a year to see how well you do with it. Most people say they don’t have the patients for it, but if you will give it a try you will see it is quite enjoyable.

Starting your own business may sound like an easy task, but most of the time that is not the case. Of course a lot depends on the type of business you are starting and how much previous experience you have in that area. I would suggest that you start the day after Christmas saving for next year’s purchases. I plan to use an envelope system similar to that of Dave Ramsey to get me going towards next year’s purchases. Start saving all of your change and any extra dollars and put them in your “Christmas envelope” beginning as soon as the day after Christmas this year. As your husband comes in from work each day, make sure he deposits his extra change from the day into your envelope. You will be surprised at how all that loose change will add up over a year’s time.

Most of the time the day after Christmas is a great time to get really good deals, so if you have any money left over at all you should take advantage of these sales. You can get more than half off items is some cases and can begin to purchase gifts for those you love early. If you do this throughout the year as well every time you see a good deal, you will have a lot of presents to shower your family with at the end of the year. Don’t do like me and wait until the last minute and then not have enough money to buy them what they have asked for because it is not a good feeling.

Starting a small business can be fun and exciting, hard work and rewarding. Setting out on this venture takes time and preparation. As you set out you only hope and dream that your dream becomes reality as well as a successful reality.

To be successful you have a few things to think about and consider. First of all you need a product or service that is in demand or something you feel will greatly benefit others.

You must have capital, expendable capital. Most start-ups require a lot of upfront costs and reinvestments to get your business well underway. As you profit you will more than likely need to reinvest that profit right back into the business with product, better packaging, equipment, signage and advertisements, as well as paying the bills.

There are many ways to gain free advertising as well as paid. Just take time to look around and find your clientele and find a way to get the word to them.

In order to understand just how much operating systems have evolved in a very brief period of time it is important to understand exactly what an operating system does for a computer. Most businesses rely on computers for practically everything these days. As a writer, I use my computer on a daily basis. In fact, at least 5 days of the week, you will find me holed up in my office staring at a computer screen for a minimum of 6 hours. Step one is pretty simple. Choose your team – PC vs. Mac. The first choice you have to make is whether you will buy a PC or a Mac computer. While both have their pros and cons, this is ultimately a personal decision. For photographers, graphic designers, and videographers, Mac is usually the way to go. People working with databases and other information technology usually prefer the PC. It’s ultimately your choice. As a writer, I was encouraged to go with PC simply because it is more compatible with the publishing realm. However, after weighing the pros and cons, I choose a Mac and I would NEVER go back to PC.

Next, you will have to decide what kind of computer will serve you best. Do you need a desktop or a laptop? This will depend heavily on where you do your work. If you are most often in the office, a desktop will be fine. For those who travel and have to work on the road, a laptop is a MUST.
